Roadtrip I Series
Watercolor
10 inches by 7 inches
2016
This series is dedicated to a roadtrip taken by my dear friend, Jenna and I in June of 2016 from western New York to Chicago, through Missouri and Kansas to Fort Collins and back again.  Each day is a journal or a 'mindmap' of events.  Journaling provides insight into what is occurring inside you while the outside world jostles you.  Visual journals are intimate pieces truly to those who make them, but they  provide vibrant narrative that may charms any onlooker to question the story.
Beginning with loose marks from memory, I build a raw composition of the daily events.  Gradually as my washes elaborate and enliven the map certain elements become more detailed while others fade and become simplified, much like a memory.

This series is dedicated to my roadtrip taken July of 2019 with my sister, Cecilia and a portion my dear friend, Jenna.  We traveled from western New York to Chicago, through Nebraska and Kansas to Fort Collins where we remained for a day and set off to Hulbert, Oklahoma through Arkansas, Tennessee, and Ohio and back to Rochester, NY.  Each day is a journal or a 'mindmap' of events.
